Week 11

SHUTDOWN!

Like everyone else, week 11 was almost a total loss as far as logging time at sites. The only "help" I was allowed to be for anyone was at DSC. The campus was closed - all classes and all but essential office personnel.

I worked, finished, and submitted my part of the Digital Citizenship collaboration to Dr. Butori for her approval. The video (hook) portion can be seen here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1INfU21JZxE-vt6bnWlYVoj97_hqYGFad.       We have remained in communication via email:

Mails from Dr. Butori. Note the DigCitDSC.

I had helped my Instructional Technologist, Dr, Butori, and DSC's OCIS (Office of Computers and Information Systems) with a video conference set up for a nursing instructor. The lady was doing a video conference with University of West Georgia to practice a dissertation defense. It just so happened that the shut down affected her (the nursing instructor) actual defense. Originally, she was supposed to travel to Carrolton (GA) to do her defense. With the shutdown, her dissertation chair asked that she do the actual defense remotely. The lady contacted Dr. Butori about setting up the video lab again. Dr. Butori asked if I could help because it was such a long drive for her, and OCIS was not available. I strapped on my cape and went to DSC to help the lady (Deb was her name..) with the dedicated conference system.

As it turned out, I was not really much help. She (Deb) was still on the system user log-in list. The system booted right up, let her log in, and she was set. I did help move some furniture and set the camera so she would be comfortable doing her presentation - she was very nervous.

Shaw kept me going with the Google Sheets project. We had a couple of remote meetings and shared several e-mails. I learned a lot about the way they (Shaw Corporate Education) does things, and got to get familiar with their video conference software before my presentation set for the end of week 12 - speaking of nervous.

Here are the email strings of several of the posts (not all) - about as close as I could get to anyone :-)
