COVID-19 looks like it might adversely affect the semester. My company (Shaw Industries) is asking employees not to travel between sites unless necessary to do their jobs. So far, this has not played into my staff development project, but I may be asked to present my instruction online. As things are right now, I will not be allowed to present my lesson in person at a Shaw facility that is not Tricycle. My boss (Aernout Hetem) has asked all Tricycle employees to work from home as well. I do not know how this will effect my grade, but I will have to do as the company requests. I have put a lot of work into this lesson so far - here's hoping.
Similarly, my Instructional Technologist at Dalton State is spending the week making sure that all classes can be delivered online if asked to do so. The University System of Georgia at Athens has asked all the state schools to be prepared to go totally online if needed. What will this do for students studying medicine - those that require clinical experiences?
As stated in my last post, I was asked to help with DSC's March "Bold Talks" seminar. This month the seminar is an Instructional Technology open house and features the technology available for professors from the school library, On Campus Information Systems, and Instructional Technology departments, Theresa (my IT shadow) asked that I research Collaborate Ultra, a plug-in for D2L, and Kahoot. I will do a slide presentation for each for the open house on March 20.
This week, we talked about all that is going on with the open house. There were two projects that Theresa wanted me to look into that I cannot do. One dealt with an Epson smart board. I had never used one like it. The projector sat right above the board which reduced the user shadow. The board supposedly allows the instructor to use the stylus as a mouse or drawing tool. We could not figure out how to get the mouse feature to work, and I do not have direct access to the classrooms with the particular board. The second was Microsoft 365. She has a several inquiries about setting up and navigating webmail. I do not have an office 365 account anymore, so I could not do a presentation on any of Microsoft Office online tools.
Here are some pictures of the Epson Smart Board. We spent too much time trying to figure it out...

Theresa showed me where DSC is implementing an "E-Portfolio" feature into their D2L LMS system.

Dalton State is out for Spring break the rest of the week. I will spend my time researching Collaborate Ultra, which is an external learning tool that allows web based meetings in/through D2L, and Kahoot. I have to put together a presentation of the tools for the open house event.
So, I have more to do than I can get done or will be able to do.
